Common questions

Is there a Facebook group for Northeastern off-campus apartments?

Yes. “Northeastern Apartments, Sublets, and Roommates, Mission Hill - 2026” is a private Facebook group with more than 23,600 members, started by Boston agent Jared Samuels when he was a Northeastern student. It covers apartments, sublets, and roommate searches in Mission Hill and around Northeastern. Anyone can request to join on Facebook.

Is there a Facebook group for South Boston and Dorchester apartments?

Yes. “Southie and Dorchester Apartments, Sublets, and Roommates - *NO SPAM* 26-27” is a private Facebook group with more than 26,100 members, started by Boston agent Jared Samuels. It covers apartments, sublets, and roommate searches in South Boston and Dorchester.

How do I join the groups?

Both groups are private: open the join link on this page, request to join on Facebook, and answer any questions the admins ask. Posts are visible only to members.

Do I have to pay a broker fee for an apartment I find in the groups?

Not unless you hired the broker yourself. Since August 1, 2025, Massachusetts law puts the rental broker’s fee on whoever engaged the broker. Apartments Jared owns and leases directly are always no broker fee.

How do I avoid rental scams in Facebook groups?

See the apartment in person (or on a live video tour with the actual landlord or agent) before paying anything, never pay by gift card or crypto, and make sure the person you’re paying actually represents the apartment — ask for the agent’s license number or the owner’s name and check it.
